One thing I always felt was effective was showing guys the heights and weights of players at their position in the NFL
It helped give many players extra motivation to lift weights when they could compare themselves to guys at the next level
(Sometimes it was even a stark reality check for defensive backs, for example, who thought 210 pounds was “big enough” to play in the NFL )
I took the 53-man active roster for the 2022 season (just before the last week of the season – January 2023), a total of nearly 1700 players, and divided them by position
For this guide, I averaged the height and weight of 84 active quarterbacks across the league
Also, just for fun, I also listed the tallest, shortest, heaviest and lightest quarterbacks

It’s really hard to play quarterback in the NFL if you’re under 6 feet tall
Only two quarterbacks in 2023 fell into that category, both listed at 5’11”

It probably isn’t too much of a surprise that the two heaviest quarterbacks are also the two tallest

Dak Prescott – 238 pounds – Cowboys

Carson Wentz – 237 pounds – Commanders
Who are the lightest quarterbacks in the NFL?
No quarterback in the NFL in 2023 weighs less than 200 pounds

Final thoughts
While many of us tend to imagine that all NFL quarterbacks are 6’4″ (or taller), that’s simply not the case
Only 24 of 84 (286%) active quarterbacks in 2023 were listed at 6’4″ or taller
And while not many would argue that being taller is definitely beneficial at the position, there are plenty of guys around 6 feet tall playing at the highest level right now
