The internet is littered with lists of the heaviest football players to ever play the sport, though few seem to do it justice.
The fact is that it is difficult to track the weight of athletes, although athletes – like all people – are prone to changes in body weight, and often the mass increases over time of their work.
With these pitfalls in mind, however, we’ve tried to compile the 15 most serious.
It is made up only of current players and some are listed as having started a game at the professional level.
We’ve used the club’s official websites, the All.rugby light source and the first-person view where appropriate while trying to provide a realistic weighting.
Some positions are more difficult to fill than others.
The surprise is that the chef and the back row are much easier than we thought going into the process.
Scrumhalf and fullback are positions that have proven to be difficult.
The retirements of 139kg Jone Qovu, 135kg Opeti Fonua and 106-115 kg scrumhalf Samisoni Fisilau have hindered our campaign and there is also talk of second row 170kg Walid Maamry.
The former French U18 forward currently plays in the fourth tier of French rugby for Bédarrides Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vaucluse Rugby.
As we know this is not a fully professional club, so we were concerned that he should leave this XV.
As mentioned earlier, we suspect that No.6 and No.8 are the places where we feel there are more serious players out there.
Our average pack weight is 142.1kg, 313 pounds, or 22 stone 5 pounds.
119.4kg, 263 pounds, 18 stone 11 pounds.
Although there is a list of big heads playing the game, not 140 kg and 140 kg and loosehead.
The former Leicester Tigers rower is the heaviest according to our research and still holds the record at 149kg, 23 stone and six pounds of old money.
Although we suspect that the French No.2 has too many carriers, it is the heaviest we can get a reliable weight.
Honorable mention goes to Toulon’s 122kg Christopher Tolofua, who we understand used to weigh 132kg but has now dropped.
A controversial entry was made by Ben Tameifuna and Uini Antonio who claimed to be the heaviest professional athletes in the world in different categories.
According to their club website, the Emirates Lions are unable to sign Asenathi Ntlabakanye, who weighs less than 24 stone.
According to a recent interview that Paul Gustard gave to Jim Hamilton on the Big Jim Show, the head coach of Stade Francais talked about the second row “154 kilos” on his books in Paris.
RugbyPass has confirmed that Gustard is talking to JJ van der Mescht, who is listed between 135kg and 145kg on various websites, but looks a bit bulky in recent set photos to his time at the Sharks in South Africa.
203cm, 145kg Emmanuel Meafou, who plays for Toulouse, looks set to star for France despite hailing from Australia.
Although he has fluctuated over the past decade – almost reaching 160kg at one point – in an interview with RugbyPass’ Le French Rugby podcast, the La Rochelle lock said he weighs between 145kg and 150kg, so we met the Wallaby in between.
A comparative weight in our pack, London Irish’s So’otala Fa’aso’o tops out at 20 stone 4 pounds.
The new Tuilagi on the level is the biggest one; Posolo Tuilagi plays for Perpignan and France U20s.
Henry’s son, the talented youngster in the second row, has already established himself as one of the best bodies in the game.
He is listed at 149kg on All.rugby and 145kg on Perpignan’s official website.
We think the former is more accurate this time around.
The retirement of some great No.8’s in recent years England veteran Vunipola is the biggest No.8 we can produce, again, in a slightly understated fashion. of this group.
Samisoni Fisilau, the former heaviest professional footballer, weighed in at 106kg and has been replaced by his fellow Tongan Sonatane Takulua, who currently plays for Agen in the ProD2.
The heavyweight Shokki Shuttles flyhalf, who previously played for Ospreys, Bath and Worcester weighs 120kg, making him 8kg the No.10 heaviest in the professional game.
The Montpellier hulk is often seen in the back row these days, but the seven-time Olympic gold medalist has started 40 percent of his professional games as a winner.
Although he has found a new home in the back row in recent years, it would not be a stretch to select Bastareaud in the position where he won 54 caps for France.
Although the Toulon website does not list his weight, All.rugby is 125kg.
Apimeleki Nawaqatabu 118kg who plays for Narbonne will be honored.
Although most have been selected as a winger, Naiyaravoro has played 13 times, namely for the Barbarians in the year 2017.
The biggest back of all time is listed at 130kg on the Waratahs website this season, although he peaked at 137kg at Montpellier.
It’s hard to see Nadolo’s record as the game’s greatest back breaking.
The old horse is playing his football at the Cheetahs but he’s built like a blind side these days.
Big thanks to England’s Freddie Steward who is ranked between 105 and 109kg.
