– April 26, 2023 Just a few days ago, Discovery announced the premiere of the 19th season of Deadliest Catch.
They revealed that there are a lot of new faces this season, but also some old ones.
For example, Capt. Andy Hillstrand is back with brothers Neal and Capt. Johnathan, fishing on the F/V Time Bandit.
Captain Sig Hansen and his daughter Captain Mandy Hansen are together again on the F/V Northwestern.
For those who haven’t heard the shocking news, Captain Josh Harris has been fired from Discovery.
He, along with Captain Casey McManus, starred in two series, including OG and Bloodline.
However, what’s more shocking than Josh’s firing is the reason he’s not on the show.
What’s the shocking reason Josh Harris was fired from Deadliest Catch?
Why was Josh Harris fired from the deadliest catch?
Deadliest Catch fans gearing up for the April 18 season 19 premiere might be surprised to learn that the F/V Cornelia Marie is not returning.
This means that Josh Harris, Captain Phil’s eldest son, has not returned.
Why isn’t Josh coming back to the Discovery series?
Turns out Josh Harris was keeping a secret.
Moreover, no one seemed to know about it until it was posted on social media in August 2022.
Back in August, a now-deleted Reddit post revealed that in 1998, Josh Harris was arrested and found guilty of sexually abusing a four-year-old girl.
Harris was between 15 and 16 years old at the time of this incident.
According to Cinema Blend, the first report from Factz, reports that Harris “digitally, vaginally and orally raped a 4-year-old girl on 7/14/1998.” DNA evidence including blood and semen was found at the scene.
Therefore, Josh Harris was officially arrested in 1999.
In an affidavit, the very young girl told investigators that Josh made her call their genitals “pee-pee.” Afterward, it’s unclear whether Harris was required to register as a sex offender.
Many fans of the show know that Harris is now the father of a young girl, which can be upsetting to many.

Discovery Channel releases statement about Josh Harris
What became clear, however, was that Discovery never vetted its reality stars.
Still, they had something to say about Harris.
What did Discovery say about Josh Harris after the Deadliest Catch star’s past caught up with him?
A representative for Discovery released a statement about Harris.
Josh will not appear in future episodes of this series.
it’s unknown if Discovery will decide to remove the disgraced former reality star from its current lineup, as Harris has been in nearly 200 episodes of The OG.

The former star of Deadliest Catch is silent on social media
With one exception, Josh Harris has been silent on social media since the news broke in September 2022.
On February 11, he posted a photo of his father, the amiable Captain Phil Harris, on Instagram.
He wrote: “I miss you my friend, I can’t believe it’s been so many years it seems like yesterday.
The F/V Cornelia Marie will not be part of the 19th season of Deadliest Catch.
Deadliest Catch fans, did you know Josh Harris was released by Discovery?
A canceled deadliest catch could be the next big news story after Alaska authorities had to do something unprecedented to deal with the snow crab crisis.
Here’s the latest from the Discovery Channel series.
The deadliest catch before cancellation?
Alaska cancels snow crab season
For 15 years, a growing legion of fans have followed the documentary series chronicling the triumphs and tragedies of Alaskan crab fishermen.
It’s the deadliest profession in the world, but it’s worth it for those with cancer in their blood.
Is Deadliest Catch canceled now that you can’t catch crabs?
On October 10, Alaska officials canceled this year’s winter snow crab season in the Bering Sea for the first time.
Unprecedented decline in crab population.
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has dashed the hopes of those who make a living harvesting snow crabs.
Not so long ago, young snow crabs were in record numbers.
And those people hope the Deadliest Catch cast will use their platform to bring attention to these issues.
If you don’t know the language, “TAC” is a completely legal catch.
BBRKC is Bristol Bay Red King Crab.
So the allowable catch for the 2022-23 season is zero!
Snow crab alone is a $200 million industry – all at risk.
Experts estimate that many crab fishing families will go bankrupt after this stunning loss.
The laws allow only mature male snow crabs to be caught.
In addition to theories about climate and trawling, the federal government has argued that snow crabs are “overfished.”
Is this the end of Deadliest Catch?
Sig Hansen made a smart move to Norway when the Alaska crab crisis began
Last year, Alaska closed its king crab season early for the first time in three decades.
And they opened the 2021 season in the first place because the crab population barely met the minimum threshold required by regulations.
Sig Hansen seemed to smell blood in the waters of the Bering Sea. He took the F/V Northwestern and his family and traveled to Norway, where his ancestors once roamed and fished.
That launched Deadliest Catch: Viking Returns.
Not only could it fill the belly of his boat with crabs, but it could keep his reality check.
With no crab season in the Bering Sea, will the Discovery Channel cancel the show or report on the drama of the industry’s destruction?
When Alaska closed the red crab fishery for the first time since the 90s, Sig Hansen left.
Now state officials have canceled Bristol Bay’s red crab season for the second year in a row.
Will Discovery cancel the deadliest catch?
Tis the season, plus you can check out Sig, daughter of Mandy Hansen, her husband Clark Pederson and Captain Jake Anderson (F/V Saga) on their spinoff.
Can the deadliest catch and crab fishermen be brought back or is it over?
Andy Hillstrand of the F/V Time Bandit on Deadliest Catch already said “We’re going to have to let people go” adding “no work”.
So that crew of three lost their lives when the 2019 crab season was postponed by four weeks.
This, however, is a different beast because it is not a late opening, but a non-existent snow crab season.
And this could mean the end of Deadliest Catch — and more importantly, the lives of hundreds of families.
