– April 26, 2023 Just a few days ago, Discovery announced the premiere of the Deadliest Catch Season 19.
They revealed that there are a lot of new faces this season, as well as some old ones.
For example, Captain Andy Hillstrand is back with brothers Neal and Captain Johnathan, fishing on the F/V Time Bandit.
Captain Sig Hansen and his daughter Captain Mandy Hansen are back together on the F/V Northwestern.
For those who did not hear the shocking news, Captain Josh Harris was fired from the Discovery series.
He, along with Captain Casey McManus, starred in two series, including the OG and Bloodline.
However, what is more shocking than Josh’s firing is the reason that he is not on the series.
What is the shocking reason why Josh Harris was fired from the Deadliest Catch?
Why Was Josh Harris Fired From The Deadliest Catch?
Deadliest Catch fans who are gearing up for the April 18th premiere of Season 19 may be surprised to find that the F/V Cornelia Marie is not returning.
That means Josh Harris, Captain Phil’s oldest son, is not back.
Why is Josh not back on the Discovery series?
There is a piece of shocking information that fans of the show may have missed last fall.
It turns out that Josh Harris was keeping a secret.
Back in August, a now-deleted Reddit post revealed that in 1998, Josh Harris had been arrested and found guilty of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old-girl.
Harris would have been between 15-16 years of age at the time of this incident.
According to Cinema Blend, first reported from Factz, report that Harris “digitally, vaginally, and orally raped a 4-year-old girl on 7/14/1998.” DNA evidence was recovered at the scene that included blood and semen.
Therefore, Josh Harris was formally arrested in 1999.
Therefore, this was a family that would have trusted the Harris family.
In the affidavit, the very young girl told investigators that Josh had her call their genitals “pee-pees.” Afterward, it has not been clear whether Harris had to register himself as a sex offender.
Many fans of the series know that Harris now is the father of a young girl, which can feel unsettling for many.

Discovery Channel Makes Statement On Josh Harris
However, what has become clear is that Discovery never did background checks on their reality stars.
Yet, they did have something to say about Harris.
What did Discovery say about Josh Harris after the Deadliest Catch star’s past caught up with him?
A Discovery representative made a statement about Harris.
Josh will not appear in future episodes of this series.
Immediately, the Discovery website removed all traces of Bloodline.
it is not known whether Discovery will choose to remove the disgraced former reality star from their current content, as Harris has been in almost 200 episodes of the OG series.

In January 2010, Phil Harris and the rest of the Cornelia Marie crew were offloading their latest catch when he experienced some discomfort.
It prompted him to search for some painkillers; instead, Captain Harris collapsed in his stateroom.
He was found by a crew member named Ward, who promptly alerted his sons.
At the time, Phil was still conscious yet unable to move the left side of his body.

In the 43-years he had been with his wife, Keith had never spent a night away from his wife.
Curiously enough, they also located his phone close to his family home.
His son Jake feared for the worst after police spotted traces of blood on Keith’s car keys.
The police, however, also took into account the fact that Anderson suffered from a drug problem.
It would take two years before the police finally solved this mystery.
DNA testing eventually confirmed that it was Keith.
Captain Lara took over the F/V Cornelia Marie after the death of Phil Harris.
In 2011, Tony Lara passed away aged 50.
According to police reports, Lara died in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Fans took to social media to send their condolences to Captain Lara’s family.

Blake was 38-years old at the time of his passing.
Police authorities conducted a wellness check on him after his friends reported not seeing him for a few days.
Once the police entered Blake’s home, it quickly became apparent that he had been dead for a few days.
Initial reports suggested no foul play or any signs of forced entry.
To that end, a toxicology report was conducted to find the cause of death.
The authorities also found prescription drugs in his apartment at the time.
Deadliest Catch Tragedies.
Mandy Hansen Accident.
During the 15th season of Deadliest Catch, fans watched as Mandy and the rest of the crew aboard the Northwestern almost suffered a life-threatening accident.
Mandy, who was captaining the vessel, was not aware of what was happening.
This caused the tension to build, right up until it snapped, sending the three-foot steel hook towards the crew.
Her father, captain Sig, was also on board during the freak accident.
He helped Mandy understand what she had done wrong to avoid recurring accidents in the future.
This happened during the fourth episode of the fifteenth season.
Sig Hansen Accident and Heart Attack.
While filming the season finale for the 12th season, Sig Hansen suffered a heart attack.
In an interview, Sig revealed that he would have lost his life if he had fallen asleep.

Norman Hansen Injury.
Fans were left shocked during the 6th episode of the 16th season of Deadliest Catch.
Norman suffered a seizure while aboard the Northwestern.
Viewers watched in agonizing anticipation as the rest of the crew tried to stabilize him.

Cody Rhodes suffered a horrific accident.
Some crew members revealed that Rhodes had shattered his fibula and tibia entirely.
They had to wait for about two hours before the help arrived aboard the FV/ Karie Marie.
Nick McGlashan took a serious Fall.
During the 15th season of the show, Nick lost his footing on an icy deck and suffered a severe fall.
He injured his ankle, throwing the whole crew into disarray.
While he was being attended to, he called Wild Bill, the captain of the vessel he worked on, relaying the bad news.
An x-ray revealed that while his leg was not broken, he had suffered a severe sprain.
Remarkably enough, Nick grabbed a set of crutches and got back to work as soon as he could.
Taylor “The Kid” Jensen Accident.
Jensen’s accident was minor compared to everything else that has happened on the show.
Taylor tried to shake off the injury and carry on with his work.
The event took place during the 14th season of the show, in its fourth episode.
Captain Gary’s Crew accident.
Back in 2016 unique, Dungeon Cove, fans could only watch as one of Captain Gary’s men suffered a nasty accident.
As one of the crew members was going about his work, the 600-pound block gave way and pinned deckhand Justin Frost to the rail.
The crew was attempting to cash in on an extra $18,000 from a live crab buyer when the incident occurred.
The crew immediately shouted for the captain to get the ship out of gear.
Once the vessel stopped, the rest of the team scrambled to secure the block and uncover what caused the accident.
Fortunately, Frost’s arm did not break, and he only suffered minor bruising.
He was very fortunate as the accident could have been fatal.
Wizard Crewmen’s Knee Injury.
The FV/ Wizard was sailing across the bearing sea, amidst wave after wave of crashing waves.
The crew was unloading crabs onto the deck when a big wave struck.
They were caught in a 250-square mile storm at the time.
Unfortunately, one of the deckhands, Freddy, slammed his knee into the corner of the metal hopper, which left him in pain.
Freddy remarkably shook off the bump and got back to work, ignoring his pain.
During their scheduled break, the captain insisted on checking on Freddy.
The incident took place during the 16th season of the show.
Captain Keith Colburn Head Injury.
Keith Colburn suffered an unfortunate head injury during the 10th season of the Deadliest Catch after he plunged into the freezing water to repair his hull when the boat heaved slightly.

This left him unable to captain his vessel.
His brother, Monte, replaced him aboard the Wizard while recovering.
Keith Colburn’s Crewman Roger Schlosstein Injury.
We have to go aboard the F/V Wizard once more to examine another accident that occurred.
As captain Colburn attempted to navigate his vessel through the first major arctic storm of the season, his boat was rocked by dangerous waves.
The force of one such tide caused a line to come undone, putting the crew in danger.
His hand got caught between a crab pot and the side of the boat.
Captain Keith shouted at the rest of the crew to keep away from the rails.
Funnily enough, Roger just grinned into the camera and said he could work through the pain.
Roger was lucky as the second accident also proved minor.

Unfortunately, tragedy happens.
Todd Kochutin is one of the most recent stars of the Discovery show to die at the age of 30.
What Happened To Deadliest Catch Star Todd Kochutin?
Over the years, Deadliest Catch fans have lost some fan favorites.
Firstly, the most memorable death is that of the Legendary F/V Cornelia Marie Captain, Phil Harris.
Captain Phil died of an intracranial hemorrhage.
While Jake Harris went off to rehab, Phil was taken to the hospital.

Harris wanted viewers to see the realities of fishing on the Bering Sea. He suffered from bad health due to the high stress
When it comes to the late F/V Patricia Lee crew member Todd Kochutin, his tragic death happened on the job, but not on camera.
Fans of the series had to piece this together over a year after his February 26, 2021 death.
People reported that Discovery UK shared video footage in April 2022 of the reaction of crew members from the 2021 fishing expedition.
Cameras showed Captain Wild Bill Wichrowski learned on the radio that someone on that fishing boat needed medical attention.
In addition, there were clips of the crew of Captain Rip Carlton’s boat.
The F/V Patricia Lee fishermen learned that deckhand Todd Kochutin died from injuries that you can only get working on a crab boat.
An 800-pound crab pot knocked right into him, fatally injuring the young fisherman.
Deja Vu For Captain Rip Carlton
Deadliest Catch star Captain Rip Carlton lost one deckhand when a pot crushed Todd Kochutin.
Less than a year later, another fisherman got crushed on the same boat.
In the early fall of 2022, Frances Katungin was also crushed by a crab pot.
The 39-year-old was pinned against the railing by the gigantic pot.
But, not without Deadliest Catch producer Todd Stanley administering first aid.
Now, Rip has to steer in another direction to get treatment for his crew member.
