A UK fisherman has become the envy of anglers everywhere after he tackled a 70kg monster goldfish – possibly the world’s largest.
A post on Facebook that explains how the man caught his life has now gone viral on Facebook.
Andy Hackett, 42, landed the behemoth, nicknamed Carrot, while fishing in the Bluewater Lake in Champagne, France, one of the world’s largest fisheries, the Daily Mail reported.
“I always knew Carrot was out there but I never thought I’d catch him,” Hackett, a company director from Worcestershire, said of Goldzilla.
It is not a goldfish, the natural color of Fanta is actually a type of skinfish and koi carp, the most common ornamental fish found in lakes.
This particular specimen, reportedly 20 years old, appears to have been introduced into the lakes 15 years ago “as something different for anglers to catch,” Blue Water Lakes spokesman Jason Cowler told USA Today. Today.
Karas remained elusive until earlier this month when Hackett arrested him.
“‘I know it’s a big fish when he takes his bait and goes side to side and up and down with it,'” said the fisherman.
Hackett, who spent 25 minutes pulling the dragon, added: “It was fun to catch it but also a lot of luck.”

Karas tipped the scales at 67.4 pounds — 30 pounds heavier than what was considered the world’s largest catfish, caught by Minnesota resident Jason Fugate in 2019.
After landing the trophy, Hackett took pictures and released the critter back into the lake.
The Brit celebrated his catch in good weather with a cup of tea.

Cowler, who reports that Carrot is currently in “excellent health and condition.” “I congratulate Andy.”
In an amazing catch in 2019, a Kentucky angler caught a 20-pound koi fish while using only biscuits for bait.
