Recently approved by the German Record Institute, the Kleine Johanna is the world’s heaviest bicycle, made almost entirely of stainless steel and weighing 4,800 lbs (2,177 kg).
This unique contraption, created by Sebastian Beutler from Köthen in Germany in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, measures more than 5 meters long and is almost 2 meters long.
Despite its weight, the Kleine Johanna can be driven to move by one person thanks to the truck gear designed to improve the bike’s gear system.
So while you may have seen rare bikes before, nothing compares to the amazing Kleine Johanna.
Sebastian Beutler, a long-time designer of scrap metal cars, has turned his passion for entertainment over the past decade.
It all started when he was a kid trying to build a bicycle out of junk.
However, his interest in creating brutal metal machines grew after he became seriously ill in 2011 and had to give up his “normal working life.”
Despite his family and friends urging him to stop, he persevered and is now the proud owner of an amazing engineering project.
Surprisingly, the Kleine Johanna even has a built-in engine, but its purpose is to power the alternator that charges the user’s cell phone.
The German Record Institute recognized the Kleine Johanna – German for ‘Little Joana’ – as the world’s heaviest bicycle, and Guinness World Records approval is probably only a matter of time.
