The Deadly Catch is a Discovery Channel series based on the exploits of Alaskan Crab Fishermen.

In January 2010, Phil Harris and the rest of the Cornelia Marie staff revealed what they had been doing when they felt uncomfortable.
It made him look for more painkillers; instead, Captain Harris collapsed in his stateroom.
He was found by one of the workers named Ward, who then informed his sons.
At that time, Phil was still conscious but unable to move the left side of his body.
Captain Harris spent more than 10 days in the Intensive Care Unit before he died on February 9, 2010.
An autopsy revealed that Phil Harris had succumbed to complications from his stroke.

In the 43 years he had been with his wife, Keith had never spent a whole night away from his wife.
Fortunately, they also found his phone near his family home.
His son Jake was horrified after police found blood stains on Keith’s car keys.
The police, however, also took into account the fact that Anderson suffered from a drug problem.
It would take two years before the police solved this mystery.
A runner contacted police after finding human remains near where Keith’s car was last seen.
A DNA test later confirmed that it was Keith.
Captain Lara took over the F/V Cornelia Marie after the death of Phil Harris.
In 2011, Tony Lara died at the age of 50.
According to police reports, Lara died in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Fans took to social media to send their condolences to Captain Lara’s family.
When the news broke, no cause of death was given by the authorities.
However, after the autopsy, we learned that Tony had suffered a heart attack.

In February 2011, news broke that Justin had fallen asleep due to breathing problems.
This disease can cause the heart to enlarge and give you high cholesterol.
He used to work on the fishing boat, Time Bandit, until his end.
In 2015, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that Joe McMahon was shot to death in front of his Pasadena home.
Police responded to a call about a gunshot incident in the 3600 block near Yorkshire Road.
During the investigation, authorities found a 25-year-old man with gunshot wounds.

Family members identified the body as Joe McMahon.
Police later located the suspect in West Los Angeles.
Joe was the producer of Deadliest Catch at the time of his death.
May 2018 saw the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Department reveal that Captain Painter was found dead in his home in Oregon.
Blake was 38 years old at the time of his passing.
Police officers investigated him after his friends said they had not seen him for a few days.
As soon as the police entered Blake’s house, it became clear that he had been dead for a few days.
Initial reports indicated no foul play or any signs of forced entry.
To that end, a toxicology report was conducted to determine the cause of death.
Authorities also found prescription drugs in his apartment at the time.
Kills Handling Problems.
Mandy Hansen Accident.
In season 15 of Deadliest Catch, fans watched as Mandy and the rest of the Northwestern crew nearly met with a fatal accident.
Mandy, who was in charge of the ship, had no idea what was going on.
This caused tension to build, until it snapped, sending a three-meter steel hook at the workers.
His father, captain Sig, was also on board at the time of the horrific accident.
He helped Mandy understand what she had done wrong so that she would not have an accident in the future.
This happened in the fourth episode of the fifteenth season.
Sig Hansen Accident and Heart Attack.
While filming the finale of the twelfth season, Sig Hansen suffered a heart attack.
In the interview, Sig revealed that he would have lost his life if he had slept.
Instead, he drove his boat to the nearest port and alerted the rescuers.
Hansen was then airlifted to Anchorage for treatment.

They then told him again that the heart attack was caused by stress.
There is a threat of another heart attack, but Sig does not want to stress his family.
Norman Hansen Injury.
Fans were left shocked during the sixth episode of the sixteenth season of Deadliest Catch.
Norman suffered a seizure while at Northwestern.
The spectators watched in painful anticipation as the rest of the team tried to calm him down.
They tried to roll him onto his side while the rest of the crew shouted at the film crew to stop filming.

This fall had caused Norm Hansen to hit his head and injure him.
Sig and the rest of the family waited for eight anxious hours before doctors confirmed that there was no brain damage at all.
Norman is back home, recovering now.
The 15th season finale proved to be a heartbreaking experience for fans.
Cody Rhodes had a terrible accident.
Other team members revealed that Rhodes had broken his fibula and tibia completely.
They had to wait for about two hours before help arrived in the FV/Karie Marie.
Nick McGlashan took a serious Fall.
In the 15th season of the show, Nick lost his footing on the deck and fell down hard.
He injured his leg, causing all the workers to be confused.
While he was waiting, he called Wild Bill, the captain of the ship he was working on, and announced the bad news.
X-ray showed that although his leg was not broken, he was in a lot of pain.
Surprisingly, Nick grabbed the crutches and went back to work as fast as he could.
Taylor “The Kid” Jensen Accident.
Jensen’s accident was minor compared to everything else that happened on the show.
Taylor tried to shake off the injury and continue his career.
This event took place in the 14th season of the show, in the fourth episode.
Captain Gary’s Crew accident.
Back in the 2016 special, Dungeon Cove, fans watched as one of Captain Gary’s men suffered a terrible accident.
As one of the crew was doing his job, a 600-pound block came loose and knocked deckhand Justin Frost onto the rail.
Workers were trying to get another $18,000 from a live crab buyer when the incident happened.
The crew then shouted for the captain to remove the gear.
Once the ship stopped, the rest of the team scrambled to secure the block and remove the cause of the accident.
Fortunately, Frost’s arm was not broken, and he only suffered minor bruises.
He was lucky as the accident could have killed him.
Wizard Crewmen’s Knee Injury.
The FV/Wizard was sailing across the carrier sea, amidst the crashing waves.
The crew was unloading crabs from the top of the ship when the big waves hit.
Unfortunately, one of the players, Freddy, smashed his knee into the corner of a metal hopper, which left him in pain.
Freddy shook it off surprisingly and went back to work, oblivious to his pain.
During their break, the captain insisted on watching Freddy.
The incident happened in the 16th period of the game.
Captain Keith Colburn Head Injury.
Keith Colburn suffered a tragic head injury in season 10 of Deadliest Catch after he dived into freezing water to repair his hull when the boat was slightly lifted.
The rest of the crew pulled him into the boat and tended to their wounded captain.
It took about an hour and twenty minutes to get his bearings again.

Keith Colburn had to take a sabbatical from the 14th season of Deadly Sins after being diagnosed with a spinal cord injury.
He told his followers that he was suffering from a bacterial infection known as osteomyelitis.

Captain Colburn had to take anti-biotics every day while recovering at home to treat the disease.
This left him unable to steer his ship.

Captain Keith shouted to the rest of the crew to stay clear of the tracks.
Fortunately, Roger just dived into the camera and said he could work through the pain.
Roger was lucky as the second accident also proved minor.

However, to the doctor’s surprise, Harris showed signs of improvement.
Unfortunately, on February 9, 2010, Harris suffered from internal bleeding and died at the age of 53.
At his insistence, the crew took his trip, which was shown in the sixth season.
Lara began her career at Cornelia Marie in the 1990s.
Years after Harris died, the former captain of the Cornelia Marie was 50 years old when he suffered a heart attack in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Lara was in Sturges to attend the annual motorcycle convention.
Following his death, the network released a statement that read, “We have lost a member of the Deadliest Touch family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this sad time.”
In January 2010 in Washington state, Northwestern deckhand Jake Anderson reported that his father Keith Anderson, a retired high school counselor, was missing.
However, in 2012, a hiker found Keith’s skeletal remains a short distance from where police found his truck.
Last year, Jake’s sister, Chelsea Dawn Anderson, died of pneumonia at the age of 37.
Blake was the captain of the F/V Maverick who appeared in the second and third seasons of the show.
Although no exact cause of his death has been announced, it has been reported that the police found “residues of drugs” in him.
On February 22, 2011, Justin Tennison, deckhand of the F/V Time Bandit was found dead in a hotel room at Homer, Alaska.
He was only 33 years old.
Autopsy reports stated that Justin’s death was the result of complications from obstructive sleep apnea, which caused his breathing to stop completely.
He made his posthumous debut in the seventh season of the adventure reality series.
Joe McMahon
Joe McMahon
Joe McMahon was an assistant producer on the Discovery show in 2013.
Joe was 24 years old and had no known enemies so the police ruled out the possibility of a gang-related shooting.
